Job Description
- Serve as the LHT STR Equipment Specialist (LAR) with responsibility to develop and implement the Technical Assistance plan for the LHT family of systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Serve as the commodity command?s Technical Subject Matter Expert and focal point for technical assistance for LHT system.
- Advise commanders or their representatives on a variety of technical LHT matters based on specialized training or experience with the particular system.
- Investigate failure trends in systems malfunctions and/or logistics for the causes for unusual down time.
- Review documented log events over a period of time and the solutions used to repair systems to identify causes of failure such as faulty design, improper operations, lack of user training, supply availability, etc.
- Employ effective troubleshooting procedures with unit personnel to identify and correct deficiencies.
- Write technical reports identifying maintenance and/or logistics trends, technical and administrative matters, etc., including recommendations for improvements at local level and/or action by higher headquarters.
- Recommend courses of action to improve operation and/or resolve deficiencies.
- Provide over the shoulder training while providing troubleshooting on assigned systems.
- Provide training on supported systems using self-developed training materials, or materials obtained from the system developer.
- Execute training of military and civilian personnel in system operation and maintenance procedures.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical advice, assistance, or instruction to soldiers on the operation and/or maintenance of electronic communications equipment; investigating trends in electronic communication systems malfunctions and logistics for the causes for unusual down time; and providing training on electronic communication systems operation and maintenance procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Problem Solving Teaching Others Technical Competence Technical Problem Solving NH-03 Non-Supervisory Senior Professional or Team Lead Control Point This is a DoD Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project (AcqDemo) position in the NH-03 broadband with an advertised pay range from the lowest equivalent GS-12 grade Step 1 to the highest equivalent GS-13 grade step 10 in the broadband. The control point for this position covers that full range of the NH-03 band as advertised. Management will set the pay for this position consistent with the qualifications and education of the selectee and the expected contribution for the position.
